Having spent recent weeks painting the back of each stair from decks 1 to 5 a bright shade of blue, I am experimenting to see just how many people on board Logos Hope can actually read.
We put up barrier tape; we put up Wet Paint signs; I even made a special notice instructing people on alternative routes to their cabins… but despite all this, I have returned several times, only to find nice brown footprints in the shimmery blue. Why is this?? Are all the crew on board Logos Hope just simple-minded? Or is there some greater conspiracy afoot…
The problem is that over the past few weeks the ship has gone paint crazy. Literally everything that stands still for long enough is being painted. First with a nice grey two component primer, then with a first coat of Interlac (either white, royal blue, putrid grey or some kind of weird yellow) and, after a quick fine-sanding, a second coat of Interlac. Three coats equals three days of painting, which equals three days of irritating ‘Do not enter/touch/jump/somersault/pole vault’ signs, which can occasionally morph into four or five days if the painter forgets to take their signs down. Thus we have on our hands a classic example of the boy-who-cried-wolf syndrome. However, the difference is this: while the boy eventually got eaten by the wolf, the paint bandits do not get eaten by the paint. And thus the mystery of their identity continues… Fascinating…
I can SO EMPATHIZE with you. Painted a nice big yellow strip on Dek 6 aft, placed “Do NOT Walk on the Yellow Paint” signs on all entry points, complete with gruesome pictures of fingers cut off and blood spurting out everywhere… and what do I find when I return 2 hours later ?
SOMEONE WALKED RIGHT THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE STRIP! I mean, comeon people….
IT’S NOT THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD!
I have their footprint engrained in my memory forever.
I’m hunting you down Mr Converse…….
